Emily was a late onset acrobat, not starting movement practices like rock climbing and acro until her early 30’s. She started with L-basing in Los Angeles, then added pops and whips once she moved to Portland. In 2022 she joined the Tempos Circus Training Company and added swing toss, standing skills, and a love of performing to her arsenal. Today she focuses on icarian, hands free balances, and the satisfying ways they can be combined. She has also started dabbling in aerial practices, mostly trapeze but also silks because it’s good for her. As a nurse Emily prioritizes safety and spotting in both her practice and teaching. She believes that acro fills in some gaps in our modern lives- play, platonic touch, and a focus on communication and consent with strangers and friends alike. Emily and Jason teach a weekly Icarian class in Portland and are very excited to bring some icarian adventures to Acro Day Camp!
